During Newport resignalling, down emus are terminating at Spotswood, with
buses beyond.

The new panel is in the new room constructed butting the signalbox. My
contacts state that the frame will be removed, and the box demolished.

I can't guess if this helps with unkinking the sg route, or even allowing
modifications for double-stacked containers.

Despite all the desire to have 130 km/h running to Geelong, there is
still the long-standing kink at Newport South.

I can only guess that the various open ways through Footscray station
building will be enclosed, with power doors. I was surprised to see the
boarding up, as the station was commissioned as a premium station
(presumably with all necessary modifications) only about 12 months ago.
