Newport Resignalling

Hi,

Melbourne's Newport is being resignalled this Weekend, with total
occupation on Friday April 25, Sat 26, and Sun 27.

Timing is 'interesting' - there will be large crowds to move on Friday
(ANZAC day marches, plus huge football crowd), and it's the last weekend
of the school holidays, so weekend traffic will also be higher than
usual.

All Geelong trains replaced by bus, WCR trains running as per normal
beyond Geelong. Not sure about arrangements replacing Werribee sparks.

It appears that the layout will be somewhat simplified, with Workshops
entry from the Williamstown line (the pointwork was installed a couple
of weeks back), it appears there will be a single track entry (currently
double track).

Anybody aware of what will become of the signal box and frame?
And while we're on the Geelong line, what's going on at Footscray? The
building in the centre platforms was done up a couple of years back, now
it's all blocked off and being altered again!

I'll be travelling through the altered layout on my way to work on
Monday, and will report the alterations where possible.

Cheers,
Craig.
