They would need to cut so many substations it would be impractical,
whilst simultaneously blacking out all stations and signal boxes.  The
signal boxes would all cut over to S.E. backup supplies, but most
stations would be dead.

If power needed to be cut to the rails, the best way for them to do it
would be to ring Elec. Trouble.  Within 30 seconds, they would have
the 1500VDC isolated, and they could also arrange for electricians to
TDAE it.
