Freights go via Wollongong, but this adds several hours to the trip.
XPTs and Xplorers usually terminate at around Moss Vale or Picton. One
of the Canberra Xplorers did run via Wollongong when a coal train
derailed at Glenlee in 1999, but arrived in Sydney something like 5
hours late.
