Open Day on The Legendary Ghan

Great Southern Railway is inviting members of the general public to attend
The Ghan Open Day on Sunday 27 May 2001. The Legendary Ghan will be open for
inspection at Sydney Central Station between 11.00am and 5.00pm.

Visitors will be able to take a tour of a selection of Gold Kangaroo Service
carriages and find out more about this legendary train. Attendees will also
have the opportunity to "Win two Gold Kangaroo Service tickets travelling on
The Ghan from Sydney to Alice Springs return." This prize is valued at
$4,796 (Lic. No. TC01/4415) and entry forms can only be obtained and entered
on The Ghan at the Open Day (conditions apply.)

The Ghan takes its name from the Afghan cameleers who first blazed a
permanent trail into the Red Centre of Australian 150 years ago. Guests will
be able to experience the spinifex plains, salt pans and the mighty
MacDonnell Ranges. The Ghan is an Australian legend for it is the ultimate
journey into the heart of the continent.

The Open Day will give visitors the opportunity to see the opulence of the
Gold Kangaroo Service Restaurant and Lounge cars, and the elegance of the
Sleeper Cabins. The Chairman's Car will also feature on display.

The Chairman's Car offers the ultimate experience on one of Australia's
great trains. You can organise a party of family or friends to travel in
this luxurious, self contained carriage. The Chairman's Car boasts a
generous lounge with CD player and video entertainment, a private dining
room, and sleeps up to eight in comfort, with two spacious Deluxe Cabins and
two Gold Kangaroo Service twin sleeper cabins.
