Hi ya folks!
In some NSWR official documents, the CHG 4 wheel ("coal road") brake vans
were refered to as a "Coboose".
In the July 1927 General Appendix, under the section "Description and
Dimensions of Rolling Stock", the CHG is refered to as "Caboose, 12 or 19
tons".
I have also found the same description used in the following documents,
General Appendix Part 1 - 1st March 1945
General Appendix Part 1 - 16th February 1969
The Carrying Capacity books from 1949 and 1963 also refer to the CHG as a
"Caboose Brake Van" although, by the1975 edition, they were simply refered
to as "CHG Vans".
Anyhoo, hope this is of interest,
Catch ya later, Dougie!
