I recently approached NRC (who I've been a shunter for for a while) about
this topic. The answer was along the lines of, "yep...I'll keep it in mind".
I'll add that this particular Driver Specialist (nee Driver In Charge) is
still carrying  a Freightcorp mentality of "yeah later...is there someone
already qualified?"

What operators should be realising is that alot of their crews are
approaching retirement. This is evident especially at NRC in Newcastle, and
there are younger blokes like myself and others who are keen, and able to
learn the job.
