I believe you mean "Great Northern", and Connex's reconditioned Comeng sets
are refurbished at the Alstom plant in Ballarat.  Hence the diesel pulling
the set into Melbourne.

Could it be that because the network on the Ballarat side of the city is
M>Train's, the diesels are hauling the sets right into the city, into
"Connex territory"?
