QR Teams up with Virgin Blue

Virgin Blue has thrown down the gauntlet to QR, with media reports claiming
the airlines new Townsville service aims to become ˇ§your North Queensland
Tilt Trainˇ¨.

The airline announced it has chosen Townsville as its first regional
destination from 15 March. Traveltrain has welcomed the ˇ§tongue in cheekˇ¨
challenge, saying the Virgin service opens up great opportunities for QR to
provide air-rail packages to its customers.

They have already developed some new packages, including combination
air-rail deals with accommodation at Magnetic Island, or the option of
self-drive.

Market research shows people are looking for travel deals that combine a
rail experience with flying one way of the journey.
