Jonathan, the ex Australian National AN class locos are
needed when the "risk management" policies of NRC run
out of fuel and or other problems.
Very handy for rescuing the odd NR class led train to
their destination.  :)

Yes OK, the AN class do not come with all the bells
whistles and CD players of National Rails NR class but
they can move big tonnage despite their neglect as good
as any NRC flagship loco.
