Another rail whinge? No,I'm in Brisbane.

Well, all the staff I have come across at QR and in particular the
suburban trains and stations have been very friendly and helpful.
The only thing I think that QR should do is shoot the little mongrels
that spray paint the sound barriers on the line side.

My station master at Deagon station is always a happy sorta chap. The
driver gives me a smile as he pulls up.Even the ticket inspectors are
polite, even if you don't have a ticket I have have been told.

QR also has a keen interest in running steam tours too.The Bayer Garrat
is poetry in motion.Get the video,as it has Maurie Fields doing the
narration as well.Nice bit of kit that tape.
Having only been in Brisbane since 97 leaving southern Sydney,I am
impressed by the way the network is operated.Trying to get into QR is
held in the same regard as getting into Qantas.Very hard and no lack of
applicants. This is why the staff are a nice as the ones I have dealt
with.Weeded out the slackos.
The guage might be narrow, but they do turn a profit.
>From the other threads I have read in this ng,there is a lot of
unhappiness in the Cityrail group.SRA,PTC or what ever the latest
incarnation is.

But there are positives to be found out in the merit based system of
promotion.Seems to work up here in Brisbane.
Also,if you're whinging about your lousy managment, can't do anything
about it,change jobs! I did.
I got so sick of the crap my old trade was pumping out to the public,I
changed fields altogether.(I'm 38 btw).
The loco drivers I know of are climbing the ladder. One is about as far
away as one can get from Sydney in this country and driving trains
longer than some suburbs are wide and for a lot more money too.(and with
some awsome equipment).

Santa Cluas came down my local branch at Christmas time to Shorncliffe
by steam. That never happened on the Illawarra line...

Thanks QR.

ps thanks for sending me the extra literature and return my calls
regarding rail holidays and when the G.S.E. is due to come by one of my
local level crossings.
