I can see you look at it from a CityRail perspective. CityRail delivers the
passenger service, so it gets blamed if anything goes wrong. No matter
whether it's the fault of the RIC, contractors who maintain the rolling
stock or signalling, its electricity supplier or God who controls the
weather. Nevertheless it's up to CityRail to co-ordinate its relationships
with RIC, its contractors, suppliers and develop contingency plans to
continue provision of a reliable service when the unexpected happens, such
as a storm which takes out electricity supplies etc. I have a personal view
from years of experience with CityRail that its management has always been
far from perfect in coping with the unusual or extraordinary, and it does
deserve blame when passengers are left stranded without any information of
what is going on, especially when millions of dollars of public moneys are
being expended on upgraded public communication systems. Some of the
whinges I have read on this newsgroup are perfectly justified, most
passengers are reasonable if they are kept informed of delays and the
reasons for them.
Going on strike doesn't help you or anyone else - it only engenders more
animosity from the public and turns people off public transport even more.
As for your advice for not travelling on trains if you don't like them, what
other options are there, do you envisage building more tollways and causing
more environmental problems?

As I've said before, passengers are a bloody nuisance to the NSW railway
system, but if you didn't have them you'd be out of a job.
