Despite the state Transport Minister trying to claim Scoresby as a fait
accompli, it's still dependent on federal funding, and Batchelor hasn't been
able to demonstrate the need for the freeway to the Fed's satisfaction.

Of course if the thing is built, the Rowville rail extension will no doubt
be canned, not because it's not needed, but because the government will
suddenly find it's got no money left over for public transport improvements.
Never mind that half the adult population of Rowville have openly declared
their support for a train line.

This is what one expects from leaving transport planning in the hands of
road engineers.
