Railway research

FYI

The application for a Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for railway
research has been successful. Federal seed funding of $11.2 M over 7
years plus equivalent from 5 universities and multiple industry
organisations involved in the application.

By definition the tasks are distributed among the participants, but the
nominal coordinating node is the Centre for Railway Engineering at
Central Qld. Uni, Rockhampton.

Exactly what is needed as historically there has been duplication of
effort instead of cooperation between parties involved in railway
research, both in the unis and in industry.

(Now if we could just get standard gauge in Qld... :-)
