A story that's been around for many years now, but is set in the past so our
younger readers may not have heard it.
The scene is the "Old" Ghan, a train notorious for its slowness and lack of
punctuality.
Lady (to guard): Excuse me, when will we reach Alice Springs?
Guard (slowly): Oh, in a while, madam, in a while. Why do you ask?
Lady: I think I'm going to go into labour very shortly.
Guard: Madam, you shouldn't have got on the train in that
condition.
Lady: Sir, when I got ON this train, I wasn't IN this
condition!
