It was remade last year specifically for television. It was made in a way
so that it could be shown as a telemovie (on US cable) or as a mini series
(Oz free-to-air).

It's been mondernised a bit, in that the sub is a Los Angeles class and
the mystery telegraph signal is replaced with mystery satellite IP traffic.

The best part about the remake is is..... the soundtrack is not 149
variations on Walzing Matilda!

Yes, there was an SW6 in Spencer St(?). It was running wrong line to give
a better shot.
