Re: Connex rail maps in refurbished cars

I have only had the opportunity to ride in them once, and the map of the
whole system was not visible from where I entered the car. I would have
thought that someone unfamiliar with the system would assume this WAS a map
of the whole system and not go looking for a "proper" map hidden elsewhere!
Your wording says it all, quote "If ya look...". Well, it is Easter soon so
I will go on the Easter egg hunt then :-)
When I first arrived in Melbourne I had little idea where to obtain info.
It was a gradual process finding out, so, as a newcomer, I can tell you how
confusing it is to find "conflicting" information, or just a lack of it.
When I go to buy something I DO like to be told everything I might need to
know. Transport is no different.
Example, the Mt Dandenong bus I caught last week from Croydon. When my
train arrived I found 2 route 688 buses waiting. Now, I only have a vague
idea of what lies beyond my destination of Montrose (have not been further
yet). So I asked the driver "2 buses tonight?" to which he replied, "No, he
goes to Montrose, I go to Olinda". Still confused I asked, "I dont
understand, does not all 688 go to Montrose?" to which he repeated his
previous response, so I bluntly asked " So you go to Montrose?" to which he
replied "Yep", so I boarded the front bus and shortly after watched the
rear bus depart and I had to sit for another 10 minutes rather irritated
that the driver lacked customer service skills and could actually be
capable of providing customer service to people who want to get to their
destinations as early as possible.
Having said that, thanks to all the other helpful bus drivers on my route,
I dont want to tar them all with the same brush.
