But platforms Nos 1 & 2 at Wynyard and Milson's Point were built as railway
platforms, for the the railway to Manly and the Northern Beaches. The plans
had all Northside tram services terminating at North Sydney. All passenger
were to transfer to trains.

The plans for the services were changed. Ramps the length of the platforms
were built to a height which brought the steps and footboards of the trams
to approximately platform level. It was fascinating to watch trams arriving
at Milson's Point, if the driver did not back off the tram near leapt up the
change of level. At Wynyard there was only a paling fence separating the
trams from the trains. For further details see 'North of the Harbour' by L.
