Re: Gold Coast Light Rail - a stupid question



The demographic centre of the permanent population is inland.  The target
for the railway was the dormitory areas of the Gold Coast, where there is a
regular commuter customer base, rather than the occasional tourist
customers.

If line had gone to Southport, real estate costs would have killed any
chance of extension south - the land is just far to expensive close to the
coast.
