Well if we're going for railways for the tourist market why not build a line to Uluru while you're at it, and another one to the twelve apostles, and out to Hamilton Island too.  Bugger it - how about to the Gordon river in the Tasmanian Wilderness too - oh er that one actually HAS been done.
