OK, so have an extended DayTripper, that covers the outer suburban area as
well (I believe that extends to Morisset IIRC).  Or check more tickets and
pick up all those using the DayTripper as a gate pass.

It can't be that hard to have in the system a DayTripper Plus, where if you go
to a station outside the metro area and attempt to buy one, it includes the
return fare to that area as well (eg Morisset-Cowan return + DayTripper in one
ticket, using my case).
