Happy Birthday State Rail

Happy Birthday State Rail - 145 Years Old today! On 26 September 1855 the
first passenger trains left Sydney for Parramatta. Today this event is
likely to be overshadowed as CityRail busily carries its passengers along
much of the original route, many travelling to the Olympic site at Homebush
Bay.

Congratulations to the Management and Staff of CityRail and the other
agencies of State Rail for doing such a tremendous job in transporting the
huge crowds to and from the Olympic venues so efficiently, a task which
could hardly have been envisioned 145 years ago when the steam trains
chugged off along the single track on their leisurely journey to the rural
area of Parramatta.

ps I share State Rail's birthday - but am 91 years younger!
