Seen in the goods yard at Maitland today - a rake of seven RCAF/RCQF wagons
still lodade with coil steel. Minimal damage to the wagon deck and
associated parts, but it appears that most of the undergear was carried away
either in the derailment or in the skulldragging process as they were
extricated from the tunnel, as the whole rake was through piped, with the
temporary air line being laid along the decks of the wagons. A rake of empty
wagons was sitting on the adjacent track awaiting transfer of the load.
