Don't get too excited about 3265 returning service real soon. The only
work currently being carried out is on the frame and running gear. No
work has started on the boiler or tender. The boiler will require lots
of $$ to repair. It may be running in 5 years if funding can be secured.

Meanwhile enjoy 3830, it is running beautifully now. On the trip to
Charbon Colliery it and 3801 didn't miss a beat in over 450km of running
in one day (a bloody long 20 hour day for the maintenance crews though).
It is interesting to compare the performance of 3830 with 3801 with its
reduced boiler pressure. Climbing the 1:33's over the mountains 3830 had
a number of slips while 3801 did not slip once. While the a number of
factors that can influence steam traction, it is thought that the extra
tractive effort of 3830 with its higher boiler pressure makes it a bit
more slippery than 3801. Nevertheless the sight of 2 38's in full cry is
music to the ears!!
