Re: [NSW] Central Platform 26/27

If you really wanted the TGV to originate at 23, you could build luggage
facilities on the ESR Concourse level and a lift or ramp up to a dedicated
luggage platform wedged in between 23 and Chalmers St. Better still, you
could build a dedicated platform at that location, which would probably use
the same road as 23 but the type of service (TGV/Suburban) would determine
which side the doors are opened on.

I wonder how tricky it would be to build a new road and a platform at that
location (similar to Roma St Platform 10) for TGV services and how much of
the bus interchange (if you could call it that) would be taken up. Problem
is you would probably be limited to one platform which would severely limit
any future expansion of TGV services to Melbourne or Brisbane.

Could you build an elevated island platform above the bus interchange? Its
foundations would certainly require a lot of planning in order not to crush
the ESR platforms (which according to a previous post weren't constructed to
accommodate the weight of a train above 24/25). If the platform was
elevated, it would be a breeze to build a bridge to connect them to either
the North Shore line or toward Illawarra Junction (north via Strathfield)
for future expansion to Brizzy.

Any thoughts?
