The noise you mention is probably the car going into dynamic brake as
opposed to regen chopper type cars including the tangara go into dynamic
brake when the overhead wiring becomes non receptive to the regen current
being created.It is dissipated into a grid in the roof.The car will dynamic
until the overhead again becomes receptive to the current being created.
