AFAIK, there are/were plans for a rail bridge (opening span wasn't it,
Capt' Somerville?) to cross the river beside the Two Fingered bridge,
joining the dual gauge line at/near Footscray Road.
That's why the railway line is intact from the Bolte Bridge to the
yard adjacent to Webb Dock. The Age last week showed a diagram of the
relocation of Moonee Ponds Creek: beside the new creek was a solid
black line across the river (the railway line?).
