Is there a formula for the note to be produced by a steam (or Compressed
air) whistle?
I imagine that it must be a function of the length of the skirt, its
diameter, the size of the opening where the steam comes out and to some
extent, the pressure.
Surely there must be some design parameters to consider when looking at
size, type and usage.
Any clues?
