Yes. In the old times, it was the other way around. It's also interesting
to note in The Age this week, there was a number of letters on this same
subject. Mainly relating to cars being a ubiquitous part of society, hence
it being okay for someone to be attached to them. Since railways were
silently running in the background of society, it wasn't as normal to be
attached.
