"Long Line" is an audio technology (also called 100 volt line) used
mainly for PA systems.
The audio level in the line itself is 100 volts, and each speaker is
connected to the line by a transformer.
Because the voltage is relatively high (A home audio 100watt system
may only deliver 10 volts or less, depending on the impedance of the
speakers) there isn't much loss in the transmission lines which can
therefore be very long.
It's often used to provide PA announcements to a number of stations on
a branch line, and in places like sports stadiums, etc.
