Sorry, at weekends half the trains from the Airport go to Ashfield and back
and half terminate at Central (plat.21) and shunt to platform 23. This is a
consequence of the lack of foresight in the design of the junction
arrangements.

Rockdale Council is redeveloping the area as "North Arncliffe" with a
shopping centre to come. Over the last two months, the remains of the
concrete plant and the last of the tramway per-way sidings have been
bulldozed and an approach road has been built. It remains to be seen
whether grass and trees will replace the sea of mud outside the station in
the next ten days.

So the flexibility of two parallel platforms is destroyed by short-term
cost-cutting on indicators! More likely, there will be a five minute delay
while somebody announces "attention pleas-a on platform 23 trains are
running late and out of time-a-table order please disregard the indicator
board the train on platform 23 will stop at-a Red-a-fern, Sydenham, then-a
all stations to Banks-a-town attention pleas-a this train does not go to the
airport".

upgrading ones??
Sort of right! One result of the limited carriage supply is that there are
more Quay - Illawarra trains to juggle the scarce fleet. One result of the
limited junction arrangements is that most of these run via the City Inner!

On weekdays from Circular Quay
City Outer
11. 4 pm FRIDAYS ONLY Cronulla

12. 0 am Hurstville (thence empty MCS)
12:30 am Mortdale CS

10. 2 am Hurstville (thence empty MCS)
11.22 am Hurstville (thence empty MCS)

Thanks for the link to the new timetables!
