Steam Locomotive B/N 1

In NSW Australia, the New South Wales Rail Transport Museum holds,
amongst its collection of locomotives, rolling stock and other
artifacts a steam locomotive of special significance (to NSW at least).

This locomotive is numbered 5096, being the 96th member of the D-50
Class 2-8-0 Godds Locomotives. It entered service in May 1907 as
T 356, one of 280 of the T (524) Class. In 1924 it wasd renumbered to
its present number of 5096, and was withdrawn from traffic in late 1965.

What is so special about this locomotive, I hear coming from the bored
yawns worldwide as you all wade through the opening?

5096 is Clyde Engineering (Sydney NSW) Builders Number 1.

Clyde Engineering is still in the locomotive manufacturing business,
having won the Australian GM Licence in 1950.

What I want to find out, is are there any other Steam Locomotives that
are their builder's number 1 in existense, and, more importantly, are
the companies that constructed them still in existence as locomotive
builders? If the company has changed names, then it may still count.

Any respondees, please show the locomotive road number, railway system,
wheel arrangement, build date, builder, service life (when in service,
when withdrawn) and current status as a minimum please. If the company
has gone out of business and then been re-registered, such as Manning
Wardle or Beyer Peacock in the U.K. then this would be important, as
the company would count as a new one trading under the old name.

Thank you

Brett Fitzpatrick.
