Penrith Council recently released information that a large amount of
money (approx $60 million) would be spent in developing the land
south of the railway line between Werrington and Kingswood. Included
in this proposal was the provision of a new railway station and development
of the old army land to the west of the university. The original proposal
for
a new station was during the time of the last Liberal govt in NSW, which
was a long time ago. And yes, there is a gap on the CityRail route map
between Werrington and Kingswood for the insertion of a new station.

If the new station was to be built at least I would only have a 2 km walk
home after the buses stop running rather than 3.5 km from Werrington
or Kingswood.

My question is would the station have an island platform necessitating
slewing of the main line or would two platforms be constructed with space
for future (15 years plus) quadruplication?
