R1902

On Friday morning R1902, which has been recently privately purchased, was
lifted from it rails where it had been a static display for some years, and
placed on it's transporter.
The location at Cohuna Park is almost on the top of the Darling escarpment
at Gosnells and poses all manner of problems to shift it down the hills.
Three 100 tonne cranes carried out the lift in driving rain. The trip down
the hill to Gosnells and the Tonkin Highway will be at walking pace. The
arrangements were to complete the exercise on Friday but the heavy rain made
the area at Cohuna a quagmire and the mover was re-scheduled for today.
The high will not be the place to be as the unit will move from the
intersection of Canning Mills Road and the highway along to the old
Forrestfield yards now operated by Gonninans.
There it will be re-railed and soon after, towed to Pinjarra to be made
ready for traffic.
Stay tuned.
