Grafton City was a different case to Wollongong and Hurstville. Both
Wollongong and Hurstville were always the main stations for those locations
and were always named for the location. Grafton City was originally called
South Grafton for the very good reason that it was in the town of South
Grafton which was separate to the town of Grafton across the river which had
its own railway station on the original Grafton to Casino line. South
Grafton has long been the main station for the whole town since the bridge
was built in the 1930's and so it ultimately became the only station which
for some reason became "Grafton City"
