Ahhh, the advantages of a network that only carries about one 6th the
passengers compared with Sydney but has a carriage fleet about one quarter
the size. Brisbane also has 4 suburban tracks bringing trains into the CBD
(Central) whereas Sydney would need 24 (arguably 18 considering the large
number of non-CBD trips in Sydney) but only has 7 leading into the CBD (down
Shore, up Shore, City Circle Inner, City Circle Outer, down ESR, up ESR &
one feader into Central's dead end platforms). For netweork complexity and
usage you can hardly compare Sydney with Melbourne let alone Brisbane.

Incidentally I saw a Brisbane EMU last Saturday sporting an external
graffiti tag at Bowen Hills and while Brizzie's EMU's may not suffer from
internal graffiti, the internal window scratches are a shocker. Melbourne
and Perth also seem to suffer from this problem but strangely it's far less
prevalent in Sydney.

...........and what's more track work saw road bus replacement for some
distance north of Zillmere - just like Sydney's Western line of late.

One final comment, who came up with the new EMU front design? Sets 01 and
04 have both been converted and look akin to Darth Vader's head on wheels.
Blahhhh!
Give me a bikkie tin bottom K set front any day.

Nothwithstanding my Mexican rant, I'll indulge in a couple of Brisbane spark
rides when in town tomorrow. I just love the acceleration and braking even
if there is little difference in driver's style.
