Re: [NSW, OT] Rail passes



Seriously though, if the government means tested the $50 back to school
allowance, and also cut back on all "free travel to and from school" and
made students pay, we'd get a lot more money FOR the public education
system, instead of having it spent on subsidising school students'
travelling expenses (in our case, full subsidisation). AND if they'd have
enough brains they'd install ticket gates at all stations in Sydney so no
school kid would be able to evade their fares.

Could someone actually give some figures as to how much the government could
save? (i.e. anyone with a bit more knowledge of the last state government
budget)
