I like how in the minister press release he talks about the level of
business acumen that is only available in the private sector. In other
words he is saying that both he and his government are totally
incompetent and can not run anything properly. ( Should we request that
the whole lot be sacked?) As the minister formally responsible for
Westrail freight he could have ordered the CEO's to come up with plans
to grow the business and help promote rail. If they couldn't, the
minister could have sacked them and employed a new board that could.
The level of BS that comes out of politicians mouths has just reached
new heights with this privatization. I also like the ideological spin
put on this one. No government railway can apply no matter how well they
are managed.

Remember we can't have rail competing against road, when what we have to
have is other rail operators competing against each other for the scraps
as it encourages the most "competition". While at the same time
government helps the road transport industry with it massive funding
towards roads.

All I can say is that our polies must have a warped sense of reality.
