Re: Albury/Wodonga line relocation??

This would mean that you would have to cross the flood plains, and that
would not be cheap or easy.
The alignment according to the Wodonga Council would indeed follow the route
of the Freeway, passing over it and under the High Tension Power Lines, near
the Wodonga Creek.
The Line would then make a very sharp possibly 40kph turn to follow the
existing Rail Line and cross the Murray

 This would eliminate the sharp

To whom? remember Trains are mostly used by people who are elderly, students
who are poor, and those who cannot, or do not wish to use their cars.
Wodonga Station is most convenient to all these people. West Wodonga would
be a hardship, and would turn one of Victorias best Patronised services into
a lame duck.

The line to Bandiana is still in use,

but only the SG connection which feeds from Albury via the Coal Sidings.

so the

There is no longer a connection to Bandianna from Wodonga Station area, this
BG connection has not been used for some 5 years, and was removed about 18
months ago.
If the Council does get its way, Wodonga Platform at the very least will be
removed, and the Station Buildings turned into a Museum. At the very worst,
all these historic buildings will be demolished. You see Kennett changed the
law, and the Wodonga Council are the only ones able to enter these
buildings onto an historic Register, and Crapp refuses to do this...it is
rather obvious that they would not survive!
