Re: [NSW] Heavy Rail - "Terminal" stations
hmm...Sydney Central apparently has been scrapped (temporarily?) because every other announcement
you hear at stations and made by guards say just "Central" not "Sydney Central", but also due to the
shopping centre being at Town Hall.
At Strathfield now the former "Sydney Terminal" trains are announced by Goldman as "The train on
platform number 1 goes to Central only". Only would you hear "Sydney Terminal" at places like
Honrsby, Hurstville, Gosford, Sutherland, Parramatta etc (SPI is sort of "hard wired" to display and
announce "Sydney Terminal" for the Central/South Coast trains)
Ronald BESDANSKY got bored on Sat, 3 Jun 2000 19:57:29 +1000 and so wrote the following:
Having recently got rid of one station name which always unofficially had
"Terminal" in it (i.e. Sydney "Terminal" - the official name was always
"Sydney"), we now have TWO new ones - Domestic "Terminal" and International
"Terminal" - the word "Terminal" appears under the name on the platform
walls, and I've heard it used in announcements.
BTW, you would have thought they would distinguish the four new stations on
the airport line better - e.g. by colour-coding the decor.
