New Automatic Voice

At North Sydney this afternoon on platform 4, instead of the usual voice
which informs us every ten seconds of where the next train goes had been
replaced by a female voice. It speaks slowly as if for people with english
difficulties and actually flows better than the standard male voice.
What is the deal with the new voice???
