Re: [NSW] Rail upgrade in July
13 minutes (exactly) start-stop Hornsby-Strathfield express around 1990
in a 4-car V-set. The train ran Gosford - Sydney Terminal in an hour even
(81km/h average) with intermediate stops at Woy Woy, Hornsby, Strathfield.
A Victorian gentleman on the train made a comment to the effect "the trains
in Melbourne don't go like this!" between Epping and Eastwood. And for all
that speed (approx. 101km/h stop-start average Hornsby-Strathfield) the
ride in the lead car, upstairs, was sublime.
Almost as good as crossing South Creek on an up Mountains V-set at
150km/h+ when the bridge was still timber.
