The ICE trains were designed for normal height platforms like on the North
Coast Line. The problem is with the newer high level platforms like on the
Gold Coast Line. They are further away from the track and hence the gap to
the steps is greater.

ICE trains, Sunlander cars, Wooden cars etc were banned from high level
platforms but at some time, the ICE trains started using the ones at Central
and Bowen Hills so presumably the ban was lifted. Wooden cars are still
banned from picking up passengers at these platforms.

High level platforms are at Central (5&6), Bowen Hills (3&4), Lota, All Gold
Coast stations beyond Beenleigh. As well, platforms 4 to 9 at Roma Street
are high level for half their length. At the curved end, the revert to
normal height. Platform 10, the long distance platform , is normal height.
