This no longer applies. The Australian standard, adopted by NSW (DOT & RAC)
for all operators and track staff, is orange only. If you only have a yellow
raincoat, you must wear an approved orange vest on top.

This ruling theoretically excludes emergency services (e.g. Police) from
accessing running lines, because they are only issued with green safety
vests.

There was even the rediculous situation several years ago, where drivers'
were told they were not to wear green safety vests as they may be confused
with emergency service personel. One would have thought if oncoming trains
became more vigilant upon observing a person wearing a green vest, then this
would have resulted in a SAFER environment for the person concerned !

It is significant to note that even though WorkCover (NSW) can issue an on
the spot fine for not wearing a safety vest, WorkCover don't care what
colour the vest is provided it is "high visibility".
