Nothing "Hi-tech" about them. Simply LED instead of globes.

They can also be found in Ipswich (East ST) and Morayfield (Caboolture
Road). I have also seen a set in Camberwell, Victoria.

Every signal in QR that had approach visibility issues was replaced by LED
signal head. All new signals in QR are also LED. Therefore, every signal on
the North Coast line between Northgate and Caboolture is LED. Geebung and
Bald Hills even have LED Junction Indicators (feathers/rabbit ears). Airport
will be all LED too and there is an extensive program throughout the state
to replace globe type signals with LED signals.

QR now has every signal type available in LED format with the exception of
offset yellows. These are still subject, so I am told, to lamp-proving
issues. Also, Level Crossing signals are still in question. Campbell Street
has LED's on the boom arms but the primary lights are still globe. Not sure
when these will be converted.

LED railway signals can also be found in Sydney and Melbourne. Actually,
there is a rather interesting fibre optic signal in No.3 Road at Sunshine in
Melbourne. Looks like an LED but isn't.

Not sure about Adelaide or Perth. None when I last visited these places.

Hope this helps.
