You can have less people selling more tickets, because some people can buy
tickets at machines.

And you can have one person staffing lots of gates, like at the big city
stations now. I remember the bad old days of Flinders Street in peak hour,
with hundreds of people coming off a train on platform 12, all having to get
past 2 people checking tickets.

Well they *could* have, but they didn't. You can't turn back the clock, you
can just move forward from here, make the most of the situation now.
