I counted all the seats/windows/lights/etc in the carriage once - but I
forget how many there are so I'll have to do it again next time...

Yes I agree, but if they're going to do that, what's the point of the whole
metcard thing? - that just makes it (more of) an annoyance (than it already
is)?
it also means that we have lots of staff - like we used to, and we have all
those machines and validators and stuff which cost a bundle, and with the
staff back we needn't have bothered and could have saved all that money and
used it on better trains/stations/whatever...
