Re: Sydney Albury upgrade

According to a circular in the Wodonga A box several oversize machines are heading for Wodonga at 20 kph, and with problems passing most lineside installations, particuklarly platforms and signal structures.
I wonder if this means they have to slip the line away from the platform?
I guess the awaited Ballast Under cutters and the Rail Grinder are on the way??

Heard today on ABC radio news (local) that $20 million is to be spent on the Sydney Albury section during the next 12 months with work commencing in September. "No" no realignments or anything drastic like that, it is only a Band-Aid approach to upgrade years of neglect, with sleeper replacement, surface grinding, ballast cleaning and various other minor works to allow trains to run at the speeds that they are supposed too along this section, therefore lifting at least 20 speed restrictions currently in place.
