Cowra - Blayney Line Re-opened

Wednesday 19 April saw the Cowra - Blayney line officially re-opened by
Transport Minister Carl Scully and Premier Bob Carr. The first official
train was chartered by RAC and operated by LVR. Locos 4204 and 4701 hauled
the official train, with 6 cars full of people in tow. Stops were made at
Woodstock, Mandurama and Carcoar before the train arrived at Blayney.
Invited guests and local residents (selected via a ballot) travelled on the
train. The following day saw LVR depart Cowra bound for Orange with 5367,
water gin, a sleeping car, dining car and FHG guards van (fitted with a
generator to supply power to the dining car) added to the consist. A
successful weekend of operating out of Orange for Blayney and Bathurst was
held, with the train returning to Cowra last night. (Monday).
