Surprisingly, an 81 class was used on one of the ballast trains prior to the line being re-opened. I
have seen a photo of an 81 class standing at the Carcoar tunnel portal.

I understand that Rail Access Corporation is seriously investigating the re-opening (reconstruction) of
the Tumut branch, owing to the traffic that would be generated by the Vizzy paper group.

Tocumwal towards Narrandera was being considered, possibly being broad-gauged, unless the Victorian side
was standard gauged. ie, for grain southwards, not to Port Kembla.
